Easy Decorator's Frosting

1 pound powdered sugar (about 3 1/2 cups), divided
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/4 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 teaspoon clear vanilla extract
3-4 tablespoons milk, divided
Food coloring (optional)

Directions:

1. In Small Batter Bowl, combine half of the powdered sugar, butter, shortening, vanilla and 1 tablespoon of the milk. Beat with electric mixer until smooth.

2. Add remaining powdered sugar. Beat until light and fluffy, adding more milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, as needed for good spreading consistency.

3. Tint frosting with food coloring, if desired.

Yield: 3 1/2 cups
